Continuing the post from a few days, I show new pictures of my city:
of Pont L'Arc
As its name suggests, is the stone arch at the end of the bridge that for centuries was one of the gates of the city and its main entrance. I like seeing women in this picture, with long dresses, and the car, as if he had just passed under the arch.
Crossing the bow, right hand, is the Plaza Sant Joan, which I will show photos later, and left hand, the Paeria (the council) already showed you the other day.
just outside the arc, on the side facing the river, and just where is the man who wears a blanket or megabufanda the following photo (must be taken during the winter when ), is now erected a statue to "Indibil i Mandoni", "bosses" of the Ilergetes (Iberian people living in the present Lleida) who fought the Romans, that is, our Asterix and Obelix. Of these two I will tell you another day, once it has some decent photo .
I told you to this area, current Blondel, she was known by the name of "the bench" and so goes on postcards of the era. Look at the second building on the left of the arc. It was the Palace hotel.
Here's a closer picture of the Hotel Palace:
And finally, l'Arc in Actulamente and what remains of the hotel:
This hideous glass building that is attached to the remains of the hotel is now a City Hall. Public access is from the other side, which would be the rear of the building. And if the outside is ugly, the inside will tell you that looks like a seventies hall, with a dark carpeted spiral staircase to get from one plant to another. I do not know if I've gotten so you can imagine. I know him well because, as City offices, I had to go more than once to fight with the officials working there. There is a reform project for years but not just run.
Two more tidbits regarding this last picture:
1. If you look good, just below the arch, we see the statue of Indibil i told you Mandoni.
2. This picture must be about 4 or 5 years. On the right side of the arch, there was a hotel that I have always been closed and threw him to an office building that is now finished. I promise a more current picture.

Plaça Sant Francesc:
this building and I showed you the other day but I found a photo which looks more closely and can see a little square that gives one of his facades and, apparently, to be called Plaza de la Libertad:
The current picture is no longer so why does something more than a year, during the economic crisis and in full attack of euphoria constructively to our mayor gave to renew the most important places in the city I promise a new post with a picture of 2011.
And now we go to the landmark of the city: La Seu Vella .
La Seu Vella is on a hill right in the center of the city, a fact that in times of war was of great strategic importance. When troops arrived in Lleida Philip V during the War of English Succession, this location was not lost on installing a headquarters there, so that the building lost its religious character and became a military camp.
When private its cathedral of Lleida decided to build one in the current Main Street, which, of course, still remains .
And this is the reason why the Seu Vella is also known as "the castle", alluding to the defensive function that took a long time, and why Lleida, with its small size, is a city with two cathedrals.
These areas are now gardens were occupied neighborhoods were destroyed by troops Philip V.
Porta dels Apostols:
One of the doors of the Seu Vella:
In this photo current guess the cloister, which was hidden before the reform:
And here the second installment of Yesterday and Today, I have still photos to make a couple of entries. I hope you liked it.
By the way, if you have not noticed, I inform you that you have just read the blog entry number 100 and just today it has reached the figure of 12000 visitors. Cool no?
