A huge practical truth is this. Unbelief is the fruit of pride and is diametrically opposed to humility. If I refuse to believe in God I am denying also the characteristics and attributes that make it worthy of confidence. If God declares his love and I do not believe for whatever reason, I express the pride inherent in my nature. The love of God is poured freely, never attracted to the merits we do not have but for his benevolence and our need.
